Output concentrations levels

Reported by: tjaya Owned by: pesei
Priority: minor Milestone: FLEXPART 9.2
Component: FP input data Version: FLEXPART 9.0.2
Keywords: concentration output height Cc: prajesh.thever@…

Description

Is there an option to obtain output concentrations with respect to ground or mean seal level or different pressure levels. We understand that in OUTGRID, heights can be specified, but those are with respect to what? In the releases file, there is an option for above ground, above sea level or pressure in hpa. But does that correspond to outputs also?

Is this a question for FLEXPART or FLEXPART WRF?

In any case, the vertical layer height is height above ground level. Other options would be some effort to implement and their use would also lead to additional overhead for the determination of concentrations during the simulation.

Thank you for the clarification.

This is a question for FLEXPART. To explain in detail, I am obtaining output concentration from FLEXPART at 1 km and 2 km heights for a forward run. Does it mean that The concentration obtained at 1 km correspond to column averaged value from surface to 1 km. And whether the value obtained at 2 km correspond to column averaged between 1 km and 2 km altitude. Kindly clarify. Thanks.

If you have levels defined as

  1. ! level 1
  2. ! level 2

then you will get the average concentrations for grid cells with a vertical extension
0 to 1 km agl
1 to 2 km agl

I guess that this problem is solved.
